Monkey and Baby Monkey with their Homemade Christmas treats

Hi everyone,

Happy Friday!!! Can’t believe today was the last day of work (well for me anyways) for 2013.

This year, I decided that I would bake some homemade chunky white chocolate and macadamia cookies for my loved ones. Below is the recipe (in case you were interested) that I have been using for quite sometime now. Anyone who has tried these cookies has told me they absolutely love them. I hope you do too. :)

Maxwell & Williams glass jar

The jars were purchased from a boutique home ware store in the city but I believe you can get them from Myer or Victoria Basement as well and of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without a matching Christmas jumper. I purchased mine from New Look online.

After baking the cookies I placed them carefully inside the glass jar. Personalisation always makes a gift more special that’s why I asked one of my best and most creative friend ever to create me a personalised Christmas tag. Thanks so much RD!

Cookies anyone?

Cookies anyone?

My inspiration for this Christmas holiday was retro and rustic home baking. I picked up the twine from Eckersley in St Leonards and wrapped it a few times around the jar.

Monkey and I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas filled with delicious food, wine and lots of presents. We will be heading overseas tomorrow morning so this will be our last post for the year but please do follow our adventures on Facebook (Hungry Hungry Monkey), Instagram (karend7) or Twitter (HHM_Karen) or all of it.

Recipe for White Chocolate Chip & Macadamia Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar

1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees C
2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth.
3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla (and almond) extracts.
4. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture. Mix in the macadamia nuts and white chocolate.
5. Line a baking tray with grease proof paper and drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto the tray. Ensure to leave about 5cm apart from each dough so the cookie has enough room to expand in the oven.
3. Bake for 10 minutes in the oven, or until golden brown. I prefer my cookies crunchy on the outside and soft in the center.

On a final note, we hope you like the recipe. If you do make this christmas treat for your loved ones (or yourself) Monkey and I would love to see them. Send me a picture via one of the above social accounts or do it the old fashion way and email/ post it to me!
